Getting Around Myrtle Beach: Public Transportation Tips You Need to Know

Myrtle Beach in South Carolina is one of the top tourist destinations in the United States. With its perfect climate, vast expanses of sandy beaches and excellent attractions, it draws millions of visitors each year

When you arrive in Myrtle Beach, you’ll be spoiled for choice with all of the attractions on offer. Whether strolling along the Grand Strand or visiting other highlights such as Family Kingdom Amusement Park, Myrtle Waves or Myrtle Beach State Park, you’ll need to find a way to get around to all of them.

When it comes to travelling from Myrtle Beach hotels to all of the shops, restaurants and attractions, there is an excellent public transport system in place to make travelling easy, so here is a guide to getting around.

Use the Public Bus System

You could rent a car when you arrive in Myrtle Beach, but it is not really the best way of getting around. You’ll have to look after the vehicle and find places to park, and it can be less convenient if you are unfamiliar with the road system here. Instead, it usually makes more sense to use the public transport.

Fortunately, getting around using the public buses is a breeze. Coast RTA has a very efficient bus service up and running, and the buses can be caught almost anywhere in Myrtle Beach. The buses are inexpensive, and they go all over the area, including all along the Grand Strand where they serve cities along the way. So you want to head to North Myrtle Beach, Surfside Beach or any of the other nearby locations, the buses are a good option and they are the most popular way for tourists to get around.

If you are planning to travel further afield, perhaps to somewhere else in the state, you can always catch a Greyhound bus instead. However, for travelling around Myrtle Beach, you can go almost anywhere on the public buses.

Taxis Are Another Good Option

If you get tired of catching buses everywhere, you can always consider taking taxis instead. There are many private taxi companies operating in Myrtle Beach, and although they are more expensive than taking the bus, they still present an affordable and convenient way to get around, especially when you are travelling from one attraction to another and you don’t want to waste any time catching buses. Yellow Checker Cab Taxi and Absolute Taxi are just two of the companies operating in Myrtle Beach, but there are plenty of others.

Get Around Myrtle Beach with Ease

Myrtle Beach is a fantastic holiday destination and whether travelling in a small or large group you will find plenty to do here to keep you all busy for your whole trip. There is no need to worry about getting around the city or travelling further along the Grand Strand because you can always take buses and taxis wherever you need to go. So plan which highlights you want to see on your holiday and travel to and from them with ease.
